About this class

In this course, you will learn the basics of turntable pottery. I'll show you how to center, how to homogenize and how to get the sound into your desired shape.

During the course, you can use as much sound as you like, because for me it's about you getting into practice.

At the end of the course, you decide on your favorite piece, it is also possible to select several objects. I will then glaze these pieces in your desired color. For this, you have approx. 6-8 glazes to choose from.

After approx. 4-6 weeks, your pieces are ready for collection. I will then send you an email and give you several pick up dates to choose from. I can also send you your objects for a flat rate of 15€.

What you’ll do in the class

This evening I will briefly explain the basics of sound and its processing. Then it goes straight to the turntable. There I will show you how to center the sound. Centering is an important step in preparing the sound and bringing it into good shape. I will then show you various techniques with which you can bring the sound into your desired shape. Whether it's a cup, bowl or plate, it's up to you. Decide on your personal favorite form in which you would like to realize your object. After this design process, you finally put the final touches on your objects. At the end, you can choose your favorite piece, which I will then burn for you and glaze with your desired color.

Who is the class suitable for?

Pottery course in Cologne for anyone who really wants to switch off after work. The pottery course at the turntable is suitable for beginners and anyone who has worked with clay and would like to refresh their skills again. Learn the basics of pottery at the turntable in a relaxed atmosphere. The course takes place in a small group of a maximum of 6 people, so that I can respond individually to you and your needs.

What to bring to the class

It is best to bring an apron and/or a large towel, which you can put over your legs while turning.

If you have long hair, feel free to bring something to stick your hair up.

What is included in the class?

All material costs for a finished object, as well as snacks and tea, are included in the price. During the course, you can use as much sound as you want. You can therefore also use the course to refine your craft skills. If you want to take several objects home with you, you can purchase the additional manufactured objects for 30€ per kilo. Your homemade object is then ready for collection after approx. 4 - 6 weeks.

The course is held in my pottery studio MegoCeramics in the middle of the Eigelstein quarter. Only a few minutes on foot from the Hansaring stop and only 15 minutes by foot from Cologne Central Station.
