About this class
Stencil graffiti combines urban style with a stencil technique that was originally created in the street art scene. This technique enables complex, expressive motifs by combining clear contours with layers of color. This quickly creates a work of art with individual expression and strong effect.
You think you can't do that? That is not true!
In about 3 hours, you will create your own stencil graffiti on a 50 × 50 cm canvas (branded stretcher frame). There are no theoretical lectures beforehand! Arrive, put on gloves and get creative right away.
While you paint and spray, your course instructor will give you practical advice on topics such as color theory, layering, image effects and design aspects. So you'll always get suggestions and creative input when you need it. The goal is that in the end you not only have a great work of art at home, but also be able to tell something about it.
Whether typical Cologne motifs (yes, there is also a goat) or completely freely designed, anything is possible. Finally, we look at our works together, sign them and anyone who wants to use the great atmosphere for photos or videos for social media.
The course takes place at the Künstlerhof on Steinstraße 58, 51143 Cologne. You can easily reach us with the S12 (approx. 15 minutes from the main train station, 20 minutes from Ehrenfeld), or with the KVB line 7 (approx. 20 minutes from Heumarkt). A large car park is just a four-minute walk away. By the way, there is a tapas restaurant right in the courtyard — ideal for a leisurely end to the course.
What you’ll do in the class
- Welcome and brief introduction
- You get your own easel and canvas
- We create 3 layers of images: background, effects, multicolor main subject
- Practical tips on colors, technology and design while working
- Final presentation, signature of pictures and photo opportunity
- You can bring the canvas directly (groups can also pick up the canvases later)
- We spray with water-based acrylic paint that does not smell like paint, and filter the air permanently with activated carbon. You can always get a mask if you have concerns or sensitivity.
Who is the class suitable for?
Stencil graffiti course is ideal for anyone looking for creative leisure activities and would like to try something new. Perfect for beginners without previous experience as well as advanced users who want to test this technique. Couples who want to decorate their new shared apartment will find their place here as well as people who want to make new contacts or who simply want three hours without a computer, office life and brooding.
The course instructor may be male, but there will be no mansplaining here — I promise. Graffiti is for everyone! Our course is open and relaxed.
Also ideal for private groups, corporate events, team building or as a special gift related to art, or elegant bachelor parties. Individual templates with references are also possible for groups/companies (logo, name, motto...)
Accessibility: The course can also be taken while sitting down when you can no longer stand. Access to the studio is via a gravel path; a 10 cm step must be overcome. Unfortunately, there are no wheelchair-accessible toilets in the courtyard. Get in touch with me, I'll build the set for you as best I can and get a ramp.
The course is suitable for people aged 18 and over. Exceptions can be made for groups that have young people with them after consultation from the age of 14.Details to remember
