Let your creativity run wild and create your unique piece of silver jewelry with your hands. Dive into the world of wax carving and create your individual ring or pendant!
In this jewelry design workshop, you will learn various wax carving techniques with which you can bring your own idea to life. I am a trained goldsmith and will guide you step by step through the creative and craft process. I'll show you how to model the special wax with tools, work out fine details and prepare your design for the silver casting.
You don't need any previous knowledge — just create your idea and enjoy crafting.
What you’ll do in the class
Idea & sketch
The only thing you need to bring to this course is your idea. Be inspired by what you love. Passion, art, cultural influences or nature. Let your creativity run wild and get your idea down on paper. You can bring a sketch or design it on site. The sketch can be very simple. We will then discuss how you can implement your piece of jewelry and we'll see what tools you need. I will then explain the individual tools and the basics of wax carving.
Modelling & finishing
Now it really starts and you can bring your idea to life. With the tools, you can shape your piece of jewelry from special wax. You will learn how to carve precisely, work out details or shape the wax with heat. I will guide you step by step through the craft process so that your ring or pendant is the way you want it to be.
Final adjustments & preparation for casting
Your finished wax model will be tested for castability and finally adjusted. I'll explain the next step, silver casting - and give tips on post-processing for a perfect result. After you have crafted your piece of jewelry in wax, the wax model is cast into a piece of jewelry made of solid silver using one of the oldest casting processes. The process is called wax-melting process. I am responsible for the casting, but I will keep you informed about every development step.
Since the process of casting and post-processing is carried out with great precision, it takes a few days before you can hold your finished piece of jewelry in your hands. But it's worth the wait. In the end, you will receive a high-quality, handmade unique item that accompanies you every day
