Create your own imprinted silver ring in Berlin

To start, you'll get a seat at the bench while I demonstrate the Rolling Mill. This is an essential tool in the Goldsmiths workshop, used to mill the metal to the correct dimensions. It can also be used to make wonderful imprints on soft, smooth silver.

Next, I'll show the whole process of  making the ring blank, soldering and shaping the band to a perfect round.

In the first hour you will: 

• Using copper at first, you'll try out this imprinting technique
• You'll use the torch to heat and soften metal and experiment with a range of materials to imprint with  
• Measure your ring size and decide a width for your band ring

In the second hour you will:

• Imprint your silver with your chosen texture
• Mark and saw out your ring blank 
• form your blank into a ring and get ready to solder

In the third hour you will 

• solder your ring blank
• clean your band ring and form it into a round
• use files and the pendant motor to refine your ring 
• use scotchbrite to matte and finish your ring

This course offers a great overview of techniques. We wont cover polishing in the time allowed, you will have the option to have your ring polished for an extra payment on the day.

Complete beginners and those with some experience in the jewelry workshop will be able to join this course.
