About this class

This course is designed for beginners with and without previous experience. We meet once a week and systematically build up a face. For each learning unit, we deal intensively with one topic. We train how to see shades and contours, as well as the drawing of faces. The development of one's own style should be encouraged. A total of at least 7 learning units of 1.5 - 2 hours each are planned.

8.5. - 19.6.2025 every Thursday 18:00 - 20:00

If necessary, 26.06. will be added.

How does this class work

The procedure per lesson varies slightly depending on the topic. Many practical exercises are done, broken up by small drawing experiments.

The topics per appointment are roughly as follows:

1. Face shapes and proportions, arrangement of eyes, nose and mouth on the face, shades

2nd eyes

3rd nose

4th mouth

5. ears

6th profile

7. The portrait, quick portraying exercises, shades, hair

(8 open questions, exercises, if applicable)

The aim of the course is for everyone to get to know the basic features of a human face and to distinguish individual facial features. The means to reproduce them graphically are learned and trained. Skills are taught to depict a human face vividly. At the end, each participant should have learned the basics of portrait drawing in order to be able to draw an individual portrait.
