A moss painting is a decorative piece of wall art made from real, preserved moss. A special process makes the moss durable so that it does not have to be watered or cared for and permanently retains its natural, fresh look.
The various types of moss — from soft ball moss to flat forest moss — are arranged into individual designs and often combined with other natural materials. This creates unique works of art that bring peace, naturalness and a piece of forest atmosphere into the room. What happens at the Moosbild workshop in Cologne?
In our moss painting workshop, you will become creative yourself and create your own individual work of art in a relaxed atmosphere. At the beginning, you will receive an introduction to the world of moss paintings. We'll show you the different types of moss, explain their properties and give you an overview of materials, tools and design options. You'll get a feel for which combinations are particularly harmonious and how you can make your image visually exciting.
Then it's time for the creative phase: You choose your frame, types of moss and — if you like — additional natural materials such as wood, stones or dried plants. You then develop your own design. Whether minimalistic, graphic or nature-inspired — you decide which direction you want your moss painting to take.
Step by step, you implement your idea. We will guide you with helpful tips on arrangement, color effects and technology so that your picture not only looks beautiful, but is also stable and durable. This leaves enough room to try things out and for your very personal style.
During the workshop, the focus is on one thing in particular: working creatively with natural materials and taking a short break from everyday life. In a pleasant atmosphere, you can switch off, be inspired and create something with your own hands. In the end, you will have your finished moss picture in your hands — a truly unique piece and a stylish piece of nature for your home.

What you’ll do in the class
A creative and relaxed workshop awaits you, where you create your own moss painting. After a brief introduction to materials, types of moss and design options, you will develop your personal design. You then implement your moss image step by step — you can be freely creative and create your very individual natural work of art.
