In this unique calligraphy course at the Kunstatelier Michel, you will learn the artistic Gabriel script — an elegant spelling from the Art Nouveau period. With pens, colored inks and gilding techniques, you bring classic calligraphy back to life. Regardless of whether you want to design pictures, write cards, gold envelopes or design pendants — this course will teach you the techniques and special charm of this historic font. In a relaxed atmosphere, you will discover your creative potential and be inspired by the aesthetics of the past.
What you’ll do in the class
- Introduction to the history of Gabriel writing and Art Nouveau
- Get to know materials and tools (pens, brushes, inks, gilding materials, paints and papers)
- Practice basic Gabriel writing techniques
- Design of small font projects (cards, pendants)
- Individual support and creative tips from the course instructor

Susanne and Rainer Michel live and work in Munich. They have been running the Kunstatelier Michel there since 2009. Her paintings can be seen regularly at exhibitions in Germany and abroad.
