Class description

We approach portrait painting from the fun, the colorful side. We learn to create expression and plasticity in a face by shading color. This gives you plenty of creative freedom to choose and mix your own colors. I will show you step by step how to conjure up the motif on the canvas and am always available if you have any questions. Engage in a creative exchange with other participants and relax as you dive into the realm of colors and shapes.

We paint with acrylic paints on a canvas measuring 30 x 40 cm. All materials, such as a rental apron to protect against paint splashes, are included. The paints are non-toxic and dry quickly. So you can take your work of art home right away.

How does this activity work?

After a brief introduction to art history, we pick up the painting supplies ourselves and first draw Frida's facial features on the canvas with pencil. That's when it comes to the color. After about half of the time, we take a creative-creative break, fortify ourselves with coffee and cake and exchange ideas with each other. Then it continues with instructions.

Each work step is explained and shown in detail! The artistic director also paints on the canvas and helps individually if necessary ;-)

In the end, everyone has created their own work of art that he/she can take home with them.

Who should definitely take part?

This workshop has something for beginners and more advanced amateur painters. As a beginner, you can try things out and gain initial experience with portrait painting. As an advanced learner, enjoy a relaxing painting evening and take some inspiration for their own painting with advanced students something. As a beginner, you can get a taste of Monet's painting style and learn simple techniques for depicting lily pads in perspective and a water surface. Advanced students can contribute their skills to the workshop and try out other painting techniques at the same time. To get you in the mood, I'll give a short art-historical introduction to the topic and tell you something about Monet and the water lily motifs.
