About this class
Discover the art of basket weaving — one of humanity's oldest crafts — and make your own bread basket in just 3 hours, which you can take straight home. Together with basketweaver Gitti Klitzner, you will dive into the world of natural willow and experience the special joy of creating something lasting with your own hands. It is braided with traditionally prepared willow branches, which give off their unique spicy scent. Your bread basket has a sturdy wooden base, and you can choose from various napkin decorations and give your piece a personal touch. Braiding promotes concentration, coordination and dexterity — and is simply good for you. You don't need any previous knowledge: The course is ideal for beginners who want to try out their craft and enjoy a homemade favorite item in the form of a great bread basket.
What you’ll do in the class
After a short introduction to materials and technology, you will immediately start weaving your bread basket. The already soaked willow rods are processed step by step — with patience, joy and a little dexterity, your basket grows row by row. Gitti will personally accompany you through all the work steps so that at the end of the three hours, a finished, individual bread basket is in front of you — ready to go home with you.
