About this class
Jesmonite is a water-based, environmentally friendly and versatile composite material. Natural minerals are mixed with a unique resin and cast into shape. By adding color pigments and using various creative techniques such as terrazzo or marbling, beautiful and unique decorations are created. Thanks to sealing, the objects are waterproof and also suitable for outdoor use. This distinguishes Jesmonite from other casting materials such as raysin or creative concrete.
In my workshop, you will learn everything you need to know about the trendy material, be creative as you please and receive your own casting molds that you can take home with you. A wonderful workshop to simply try out something completely new.
What you’ll do in the class
After a short theoretical introduction, you will first start with a simple exercise.
I'll show you how to calculate the required casting powder and hardener for each casting mold. I'll give you tips on what to look out for and after watering together for the first time, you can then try out different colors and techniques. You make beautiful terrazzo chips that you can incorporate into your projects.
Since the objects should harden for 24 hours, you can then sand them off at home and design them with paint or, for example, with stamps.
Who is the class suitable for?
The workshop is suitable for anyone who would like to try something new and is looking for alternatives to Raysin and Co. Participation is possible from the age of 14.
