The spirits factory stands for distilling, enjoyment and quality in the heart of Bensheim, on Bergstraße. Whether it's fine liqueurs, unusual brandies or gin distilled over moon crystal — we have everything a spirit connoisseur's heart desires. Our master distiller Gregor Thormann gives each of his creations a very personal touch and demonstrates his craftsmanship with creative and traditional recipes. This is how unique spirits par excellence are created that inspire connoisseurs and lovers.
Master Distiller Gregor Thormann
He began making spirits and wine himself at the age of 12, as his father still had appropriate equipment from GDR times. Because he was not yet allowed to drink the products he had made himself, he relied on the opinions of his parents and relatives. His creations were always popular at family parties, so he continued making them and won more and more fans for his creations in his small home village.
In 2009, he therefore decided to train as a distiller. In 2014, he also completed the examination to become a master distiller. In the same year, he took over the management of the spirits factory in Heppenheim in southern Hesse.
Since then, he has been producing the finest spirits, liqueurs and brandies there. The Lunatic! The series not only delights with their gin; a vodka, a peppermint liqueur and two Vermouths have been added. In addition, several barrel-aged whiskies and a German brandy are available. As one of the few distillers in Germany, Thormann has recently also been producing German rum.
