Christian Evers book classes

Christian Evers (*1980, Wittingen, DE) is a contemporary painter and draftsman based in Munich. His dynamic and contrasting painting style accentuates the fleeting nature of figures and objects, while the surrounding space persists as a silent, eternal element. This tension between movement and silence shapes his work.

Evers combines elements of Japanese ink painting, which he deepened through Zen practice, with western comic art — a fusion that makes up his distinctive yet relaxed style. He prefers to work with ink, watercolor and oil, using different painting surfaces such as rice paper, watercolor paper or canvas, depending on the desired effect.

His works are mostly created in thematic series, which are stylistically combined through a clear signature. “In the Spirit of Zen,” a series that emerged from a personal crisis and gave his art a deeper meaning, is particularly formative. A characteristic feature of his work is the deliberate omission of colors and contours in order to create visual stimuli and let the scenes “breathe.”

In addition to painting, Evers works as an illustrator, gives private drawing lessons and has been managing the sansaro art box in Munich, a non-profit exhibition concept by SUSHIYA GmbH that promotes art and culture. Since 2023, he has been a recognized artist of the haboku painting style of the 540-year-old Tenkei Sesshu painting school in Japan. His works are in national and international private collections.
