Materials research is our religion.

We pray with plant ash, various types of stones, gemstones, lava sand, and mud.

The Barsega Studio is the result of six years of research and artistic practice by mixed media artist Elizaveta Barsega. The core questions of her work are: What did the ceramic craft look like before industry got involved? How can we create a new future for crafts without neglecting our old roots?

Elizaveta gathered insights into the past in every possible way: extensive literature research, apprenticeship work with traditional potters, and research trips. Some of her solo trips included: the Moroccan desert and reef region, the mountains of Thailand and Georgian river banks.

After working with several Berlin studios and running their ceramic brand brsg Keramik, Elizaveta and her team moved into a new space in summer 2022 and founded the Barsega Studio Gallery.

Here we are now.

The primary focus of our studio is to embody the most sustainable and respectful way of working with ceramics. Non-toxic natural materials and ancient techniques combined with curiosity and the joy of discovery.

Exploring the land of the unknown is what inspires us. That is what we practice and teach.
