About this class
The sensory wine tasting focuses on training the senses. Participants learn to consciously judge wines based on their appearance, smell and taste. Together, we analyse colour, aromas and taste profiles as well as the balance of acidity, tannin and sweetness. By comparing different wines, perception is sharpened and techniques are taught to recognize typical wine aromas. The course also provides insights into the influence of grape variety, terroir and winemaking on the sensory properties of wine, so that participants systematically develop their sensory skills.
What you’ll do in the class
- Welcoming guests with a welcome secco
- Brief presentation of the winery and course instructors
- Introduction to the basics of sensory wine tasting
- Each wine is sensorially analyzed and participants learn to judge the wines according to color, smell and taste
- During the tasting, suitable snacks are served (e.g. cheese, bread, dip, olives, grapes, pretzels, pepper bites)
- First wine - light white wine - focus on visual experience: color, clarity, viscosity
- Second wine - Aromatic white wine - Intensifying the sense of smell: Recognition of fruit, floral and herbal aromas.
- Third wine - rosé - balance of acidity and sweetness on the palate
- Fourth wine - light red wine - perception of tannins and texture: What does the wine feel like in the mouth?
- Fifth wine - Powerful red wine - Complexity in taste: Recognition of wood aromas, chocolate and spices
