About this class
Are you in the mood for an experiment? Can you use oil paint to make a translucent image? Whether as a window picture, leaflet or lampshade: Translucent pictures not only set atmospheric accents during the Christmas season — this course unfolds the art of watercolor painting in oil (!) a very special effect.
Translucent images reveal tremendous color brilliance, can be dimmed and constantly change their appearance when they are illuminated from the front, from the back or from both sides.
It is basically a special kind of watercolor course - but the technique is essentially the same! As with all watercolor techniques, however, when creating translucent images, it is crucial that all bright areas in the image must be omitted. This requires concentration and mindfulness. Various techniques are possible: with watercolors on transparent paper or Japanese paper, with glue paints on fine nettle or with oil paints on fine painting cloths. In this course, you will also learn how to prepare your own painting surface according to your objectives, or how to assemble a stretcher frame yourself, put a painting cloth on the stretcher frame and how to paint watercolors in a targeted and strategic way.
