About this class
This course is designed for beginners with and without previous experience. For each learning unit, you focus intensively on a topic. You train how to see shades and contours as well as to draw faces. In doing so, you also promote your own style. A total of at least 7 learning units of 1.5 to 2 hours each are planned.

What you’ll do in the class
The procedure per lesson varies slightly depending on the topic. You mainly practice practically, supplemented by small drawing experiments.
The topics per appointment are structured roughly as follows:
1. Face shapes and proportions, arrangement of eye, nose and mouth, shades
2nd eyes
3rd nose
4th mouth
5. ears
6th profile
7. Portrait, quick portraying exercises, shading, hair
8. Open questions and further exercises, if necessary
The aim of the course is for you to learn the basic features of a human face and to distinguish individual facial features with certainty. You learn to reproduce them graphically and to depict a face vividly. In the end, you have learned the basics of portrait drawing and can draw an individual portrait.
Please bring along:
DIN A3 drawing pad, normal paper, pencils 2B and 4B, eraser, makeup mirror to stand up or hand mirror, possibly a large geotriangle, compass and, if available, magazines with large portraits or large-format photos.
Who is the class suitable for?
The course is designed for beginners who are looking for or have already found a new hobby in drawing. Beginners with previous knowledge or amateur draftsmen are also welcome, as they can benefit from mutual exchange and develop their skills.
