About this class

In this photo course, you will learn how to take pictures in different lighting conditions, from sunset to blue hour to blackness of night.

The course schedule:

What could be more to Kassel than enjoying the Blue Hour at Wilhelmshöhe Palace?
It not only offers a unique panorama of the entire city, which becomes even more impressive with the evening lighting, but also an architectural gem with the castle.
We meet right in front of this castle to first brush up on the basics of photography.
We learn how to use the tripod (there are some small pitfalls hidden here) and look for the ideal position for our Kassel photo.
We learn the correct settings for long exposure and are ready for action just in time for blue hour.
After dark, we use the large open space in front of the castle for an easy introduction to light painting.

Details to remember

What to bring to the class

A system or SLR camera with the option to manually adjust ISO, aperture and time.
3 leg stand (monopods/monopads are not suitable)
Camera manual, if available.
Fully charged battery, ideally a charged replacement battery.
Memory card with space for approx. 300 pictures
Please dress warmly for the weather and, especially in winter (we will be in the same place for some time during long exposure photography)!

If available, you are welcome to bring the following:

A second lens (we work in the focal length range of 18-50 mm)
Polarizing filter, ND filter, gray gradient filter
Remote shutter
A diffuser
