About this class
What you’ll do in the class
To start, you'll get a seat at the bench while I introduce the project.
I'll show the whole process of making the ring blank, texturing, soldering and shaping the band to a perfect round. What's special about this workshop is creating textured sheet metal using the rolling mill. This is used to mill metal to the correct dimensions. It can also be used to make wonderful imprints on soft, smooth silver.
After I show the ring making process, I'll guide you as you make your very own ring.
In the first half you will:
- Measure your ring size and decide a width for your band ring
- Select which pattern you'll use for your ring imprint
- Print your ring with your selected texture
- Mark and saw out your ring blank
- Form your blank into a ring
- Solder and shape your ring
In the second half you will:
- Clean your band ring and form it into a round
- Use files and the pendant motor to refine your ring
- Matte finish or lightly polish your ring
