What you’ll do in the class
At the beginning, you'll get a seat at the bench while I present the project.
I'll show you how to blank the ring, add texture, solder it, and form the band into a perfect circle. A special part of this workshop is texturing sheets with a rolling mill. We use it to get the metal to the right dimensions and create beautiful prints on soft silver.
After the introduction, I will guide you step by step as you create your own ring.
In the first half, you'll:
- Measure your ring size and choose the width of your band ring.
- Choose the pattern for your ring print.
- Texture your ring with your chosen pattern.
- Mark and saw out your ring empty
- Shape your blank into a ring
- Solder and shape your ring
In the second half, you'll:
- Clean your band ring and round it off.
- Refine your ring with files and a pendulum motor
- Choose a matte finish or a light polish.
