Dive into the world of coffee — at a barista course in Freiburg!
In just two hours, as a beginner, you will learn everything you need to prepare espresso, froth milk properly and create your first latte art motifs. You will work on professional portafilter machines, gain in-depth coffee knowledge and take away practical tips to take home with you.
For a special end, you can optionally book and enjoy coffee, cake and aperitif as an add-on.
What you’ll do in the class
1. Welcome & introduction (approx. 5-10 minutes)
- Brief presentation of the trainer and the participants
- Overview of course schedule
- Objective: What does it mean to be a barista?
2. Compact coffee knowledge (approx. 10 minutes)
- Brief introduction to coffee beans: Arabica vs. Robusta
- Cultivation, Harvesting and Roasting — Basics
- Influence of origin and roasting on taste
3. Espresso basics (approx. 15-20 minutes)
- Setting up and operating the espresso machine
- The “golden rule”: degree of grinding, quantity, tampering, extraction time
- First practical exercise: preparing and tasting espresso
4. Milk & milk froth (approx. 15-20 minutes)
- Differences between types of milk
- Foaming with the steam plant: technology & temperature
- Practice: frothing milk and small latte art basics (e.g. heart)
5. Classic coffee drinks (approx. 10-15 minutes)
- Difference between espresso, cappuccino, latte macchiato, etc.
- Preparation & serving rules
- Quick practice: Make 1-2 drinks yourself
6. Questions & Conclusion (approx. 5-10 minutes)
- Open question and answer session
- Tips for home/further courses
- Attendance certificate (optional)
