Class description

Experience the magic of flowing paint in the experimental watercolor course at Steinfeld Abbey. This is not just about technology, but about the freedom to experiment with watercolors and discover new forms of expression. Between image and abstraction, you will find creative image solutions that strengthen your personal signature.

From glowing glazes to the INKJU technique with ink developed by me — the course offers you a variety of opportunities to work with the wet technique. Color theory and composition always remain in focus. Regardless of whether you want to interpret an experience of nature or free yourself from the subject — here you will find space for your artistic visions.

The course is aimed at beginners who want to learn the basics of watercolor, as well as advanced students who are looking for new perspectives and inspiration for their style. Look forward to an inspiring atmosphere, intensive group exchange and the creative energy of this special place.

How does this activity work?

Each day of the course starts with an introduction and demonstration, during which I present techniques and creative approaches. It provides information on art theory topics such as perspective, composition and color theory as well as practical tips: How to use the brush, how much water do I use and how the paper relates to paint and water. After a relaxing lunch break, new technological impulses can follow or we can discuss the steps to further develop the work.

In Steinfeld Abbey, the studio is open around the clock for freelance work. In addition to the course times with instructions, you have the opportunity, for example, to let your creativity run wild in the evenings or to socialize with other participants in the studio.

At the end of the 4-day course, we celebrate the results with an inspiring presentation of all works.

Who should definitely take part?

The course is aimed at beginners who want to learn the basics of watercolor, as well as advanced students who are looking for new perspectives and inspiration for their style. Look forward to an inspiring atmosphere, intensive group exchange and the creative energy of this special place.
