dohnadesign Berlin: ceramic casting in Berlin

Dohnadesign is my label for handmade porcelain.

During my master's degree in ceramic and glass design at Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle, I worked intensively on porcelain as a material and its manufacturing techniques.

With Dohnadesign, I would like to share my enthusiasm for this craft and show how versatile porcelain can be designed. I am particularly fascinated by the process in which fine, delicate objects with smooth surfaces and special details are created from a liquid mass through various manual work steps.

My studio — a place to get creative

My ceramic studio is a bit hidden in a quiet backyard in the middle of the Akazienkiez in Berlin-Schöneberg.

A relaxed, personal atmosphere awaits you here, with space to try out and experiment. In my workshops, you can learn how to work with porcelain, try out different techniques and create your own pieces.

My workshops

In my workshops, everything revolves around the different design options for porcelain. The focus is on slip casting, in which liquid porcelain mass is poured into plaster molds. This is how bowls, cups and other unique items are created.

After an introduction to the materials and techniques, you can get creative yourself. We work with white and dyed porcelain, combine different colors and experiment with patterns and surfaces.

I will guide you through the individual work steps, show you the most important techniques and help you implement your ideas. This leaves enough space to try out your own design options.

You don't need any previous knowledge — curiosity and joy in designing are enough.

Private events & team events

Whether it's a birthday party, a bachelor party or a team event — at Dohnadesign, you can work together with porcelain and create your own pieces.

After an introduction to materials and techniques, you can try out different colors and design options and implement your own ideas.

The workshops take place in my studio in Berlin-Schöneberg and provide a framework for being creative together, getting to know something new and spending time together.

In the end, individual pieces of porcelain are created that remind you of the joint workshop.
