About this class

In the drawing, painting and writing workshop course in Fürstenberg (Havel), we explore enchanted and cursed places on Lake Röblinsee. We take a short walk, choose the location and make sketches there. You will then develop your own work with your sketches in the studio — if you like, supplemented by paintings or texts you have written yourself. I support when needed and hold back when it flows...

What you’ll do in the class

1. Arrival & introduction (approx. 10:30 a.m.)
We start in the Blue House studio with a welcome and a short round of introductions. I present the course of the day and give initial ideas for a possible course of action. Together, we discuss what is important when working in nature — from dealing with material to pictorial ideas to preparing further work in the studio.

2. Walk & search for a location (approx. 11:00 — 11:30)
We set off on foot in the surrounding area — to the shores of Lake Röblinsee and into the surrounding forests. There we discover abandoned buildings, ruins, inscriptions and traces of the Soviet and GDR past, which inspire individual pictorial ideas. You can select sections of the location that appeal to you in particular.

3. Free sketching on site (approx. 11:30 — 13:30)
At the chosen location, we set ourselves up with drawing boards, paper and materials. The aim is to create several sketches or studies — spontaneous, fragmentary or associative. On request, I will accompany you with suggestions on the choice of subject, sketching technique or linguistic approximation to the atmosphere.

4. Return & lunch break (approx. 1:30 p.m. — 2:30 p.m.)
Back in the studio, there is a break together with a lunch snack. If you like, feel free to bring something else that you would like to share. There is also time for relaxation, exchange and first glimpses of the resulting sketches.

5. Continued work in the studio (approx. 14:30 — 17:00)
In the afternoon, we develop a larger, independent work from the sketches. Individual elements can be cut out and reassembled as a collage, reworked in color or extended linguistically. I provide individual support in the development of composition, color application and linguistic depth.

6. Voluntary exchange & feedback (approx. 17:00 — 17:30)
At the end, there is a relaxed discussion about the resulting works — with the opportunity to show, reflect and be amazed together. Everything is voluntary: If you would rather retire or continue working quietly, you can of course do so.

This process is flexible and is adapted to weather, group dynamics and individual needs. It is important to me that everyone goes home with a sense of creative freedom, support and self-effectiveness — inspired by places where history and present are visibly intertwined.
