What you’ll do in the class
Workshop process: Getting started & designing the first objects
- Welcome to the studio and introduction to hand building techniques: pinching, coiling, slab building
- Implementation of initial designs — e.g. cups, bowls or decorative objects
- Clay processing and shaping tips
- Recent corrections and surface treatment
- Preparation for scrubbing. The pieces must dry for approximately 7 to 10 days before they are put in the oven and fired for the first time. The objects can then be glazed.
After firing and slowly cooling down, your finished pieces will be ready for collection approximately 2 weeks later (during our pick up times, Saturdays 1 p.m. — 4 p.m.).
