About this class
We offer a tufting workshop in our studio in Berlin Mitte. With an AK tufting machine, you can creatively make your own small rug or the frame for a mirror. We'll show you step by step how tufting works.
How can you prepare yourself for the tufting course?
Please send us your design at least 6 days before the date so that we can see if it is suitable for the course. If your tufting design is feasible, we will draw it out for you on the tufting fabric. If not, we'll find an alternative together. Your design idea can be drawn freely, but don't be careful to get too detailed, as large areas are easier to tuft than small ones. The final size of the rug should be a maximum of 40 × 30 cm or 37 cm in diameter if it is round.
Where does the tufting workshop take place?
The workshop takes place in our tufting studio on Senefelderplatz in Berlin Mitte. We are looking forward to introducing you to this special craft and are looking forward to your design!
What you’ll do in the class
- You will receive an introduction to our AK-I Cut Pile tufting machine.
- We will then do a few smaller tufting exercises with the machine so that you become familiar with tufting.
- Then it's time to tuft your work!
- You will create your design with wool yarn (100% pure virgin wool).
- Of course, we are always available to help and advise you.
- At the end of the workshop, you will be holding your homemade rug or mirror in your hands.
We do the finishing and backing for you. You can pick up your finished rug or mirror from the studio later or we can send it to you by post within 3 - 4 weeks (shipping costs not included).
Who is the class suitable for?
The tufting workshop is suitable for anyone (over 16 years of age, unfortunately not suitable for children) who wants to learn how to tuft. Here you have the chance to implement your own ideas and learn how to use a tufting machine. You don't need any previous knowledge for the workshop, but you are also welcome to participate with experience and work on your ideas.
