Ceramics workshop near Munich: building and designing vessels

There are various topics: 

Garden ghosts

Imaginative ghosts are modelled on clay tubes, which are also produced in class. Naturalistic or mask-like, simple or playful, the imagination has no limits.

Using the tried and tested beading technique, vessels are built on the ridges. Large or small, cylindrical or expansive, cups, bowls, cans... Lids are then designed for the latter.

There are no limits to artistic design through patterns and/or the use of engobe (colorful, liquid clay that is applied to the hard leather part).

Using various techniques, we build objects that do not necessarily fulfill a function. It is about joyful and creative work.

How does the workshop work?

It starts on Friday evening, 18:00 h until approx. 21:00 h. Here we discuss what and how, make initial preparations (e.g. rolling out plates, building small models, making exercise pieces,...)

On Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to around 5:00 p.m., everyone can work on their work piece at their own pace, with or without a break, with my instructions.

The finished screwed parts (first firing after drying) are usually finished on Friday, two weeks later from 7 p.m., i.e. glazed or treated with oxides. This date will be announced individually in each course.

My courses are all designed for six to a maximum of eight people.

Who is the workshop suitable for?

The workshop is suitable for anyone who wants to get creative. Experienced course participants always have the opportunity to use a workshop for themselves, with their own ideas and ideas that are not related to the topic. For example, you can build large containers in a garden ghost workshop. The instructions for the unrelated object are then secondary.

A little tip if you're not from Glonn:
For participants who come from a little further away, there is a charming, small, family-run wellness hotel in Glonn, the Hotel Schwaiger. Absolutely recommended. In general, the small market in Glonn is nestled in a wonderful landscape and you can enjoy a short vacation here very nicely.
