In this unique calligraphy course at the Kunstatelier Michel, you will learn the artistic Gabriel script — an elegant spelling from the Art Nouveau period. With pens and coloured inks, you can bring classic typography back to life. Regardless of whether you want to decorate envelopes or design large-format fonts — this course will teach you the techniques and special charm of this historic font. In a relaxed atmosphere, you will discover your creative potential and be inspired by the aesthetics of the past.
How does this activity work?
- Introduction to the history of Gabriel writing and Art Nouveau
- Get to know materials and tools (pens, inks, papers)
- Practice basic Gabriel writing techniques
- designing small font projects (e.g. envelopes, cards)
- Creative implementation of larger typefaces
- Individual support and creative tips from the course instructor

Kunstatelier Michel
Susanne and Rainer Michel live and work in Munich. They have been running the Kunstatelier Michel there since 2009. Her paintings can be seen regularly at exhibitions in Germany and abroad.
