Class description

Indonesian cuisine is known for its diversity and strong taste. In this group course, you will get to know some typical Indonesian herbs and spices, combined with ingredients that you can get in any supermarket. We will prepare a full meal together in a small group — from main course, side dish to dessert, and then enjoy it afterwards.

Summer menu:

  • Nasi goreng - Indonesian style fried rice
  • Sate Lilit - Balinese skewers with tuna/chicken
  • Urap sayur - Javanese style vegetable mix
  • Sop buah - fruit soup

Winter menu:

  • Nasi Liwet - fragrant rice with fish and coconut milk
  • Tahu Isi - Filled tofu cubes
  • Urap sayur - Javanese style vegetable mix
  • Klepon - delicious, sweet rice balls

How does this activity work?

The course is also welcome to take place in your own kitchen (Aachen/Cologne/Düsseldorf area) if you book a group.

At the start, there will be a presentation about the dishes and their cultural context. You will then get to know the ingredients you need and their respective aromas. That's when you're ready to go!

The ingredients are already roughly prepared. You will prepare a few ingredients yourself so that you get a feel for the ingredients. The cooking process is designed so that the dishes are ready at the same time at the end. Finally, enjoy your own cooking results!

Who should definitely take part?

Did you have delicious Indonesian food during your vacation and would like to take that holiday feeling home with you? Or do you simply want to discover Indonesian cuisine for yourself? This event is suitable for beginners as well as amateur chefs who are interested in the cuisine of the Southeast Asian country.
