About this experience

Forget everything you know about standard supermarket honey. Real honey is an aromatic adventure! Did you know that it can taste like minty linden, bitter malt, or even dark chocolate? I'm E…

How does this experience take place?

Our honey tasting in Rösrath is filled to the brim with pleasure and knowledge:

Variety honey check: How does pure honey come about and what does that actually mean? Learn how the laboratory and humans differentiate between types of honey.
The tasting: We try our hand at the German honey landscape. You can taste the difference between creamy spring blossom honey and spicy forest honey.
Fact check: What is the “blooming season” all about and is imported honey worth the money? We compare live: Manuka vs. local cornflower.
Consumer tips: Can honey go bad and does it really last “forever”? How do you recognize spoiled honey and what about counterfeit honey?
Sensory testing: You taste like the pros. Learn how to work with the aroma wheel and how the various honeys are classified in human sensory terms.
The finale: It will be cozy in the end. We test how the taste changes when we combine honey with different types of bread (mares, sourdough, brown bread).

What is included?

Guided tasting with a certified honey sommelier
Honey samples of various varieties
Fresh bread of different kinds
Water for palate cleansing
