Funky Cups: A Pottery Workshop is a fun and relaxing creative experience where you can shape your very own eccentric coffee or tea cup — no prior experience needed. In a warm and welcoming atmosphere, you'll connect with others, take a creative break from everyday stress, and learn the basics of hand-building pottery. Step by step, we'll guide you through the process, from forming your cup to adding your personal funky touch. All tools and materials are provided — just bring your imagination and enjoy making something uniquely yours. You'll take home 1–2 unique, handmade cups that you've created yourself.
Glazing options: After the firing process, your cup can either be glazed by me, or — if you'd like to add your own finishing touch — you can book an additional glaze workshop to decorate it yourself.
What you’ll do in the class
Our workshop is designed to gently guide you from your first touch of clay to your very own finished funky cup. Here's what to expect:
Welcome & Introduction
We'll start with a short introduction to the world of pottery, basic clay knowledge, and an overview of the creative process. You'll get to know the materials and tools we'll be working with.
Hand-Building Techniques
Step by step, we'll show you different hand-building methods — such as pinching, coiling, and slab-building — so you can choose the technique that fits your cup vision best. No wheel required!
Working with Tools
Learn how to shape, smooth, carve, and add texture to your piece using a variety of pottery tools. This is where your cup really starts to develop its unique character.
Personalize & Finalize Your Piece
Once your form is ready, you'll refine the edges, add your funky details, and give it your personal touch. We'll make sure your cup is ready for the drying and firing process after the workshop.
Wrap-Up & Next Steps
We'll explain how your piece will be dried, fired, and glazed, and when you'll be able to pick up your finished cup.
