In the Basic & Watch workshop, you will be introduced to the theory and practice of watchmaking. Together, we will explore the fascinating world of mechanical wristwatches and get to know all the functions of the individual components. From the spring house to the wheelworks to the balance sheet, you will get to know and understand every detail. Our seminar leader is an experienced mechanical engineer & registered watchmaker with profound knowledge who will teach you the complex interrelationships in an understandable and entertaining way.
How does this activity work?
10:00 a.m., the workshop starts with an illustrative introduction to the basics of watchmaking
12:00 lunch in our own restaurant (included in the seminar price)
13:00 under guidance, you will disassemble the seminar clock provided by us into its 5 basics and then put it back together again. This also includes straining and setting hands, cleaning the dial & glass, checking & adjusting the clockwork, demagnetizing and greasing seals.
17:00 Our workshop ends with the presentation of your certificate of participation
The 5 basics of a watch are the movement, dial, hand game, case and bracelet. During the entire process, you will be accompanied by the seminar leader, who will give you helpful tips and tricks so that you can correctly place each component and ensure that the watch works properly.
Our goal is that you not only get a deep understanding of mechanical watches, but also have the ability to build your own watch by assembling and assembling the parts yourself. You'll be amazed how much fun it is to discover the fine mechanisms and understand how they work together to display time precisely.
