This workshop is your start in the world of tufting. We will guide you step by step from the idea to the finished rug, which you can then take away as your personal masterpiece.
How can you prepare yourself for the tufting course?
In order to make the best possible use of your time in the workshop, we ask you to send us your desired design at least three days before the start of the workshop. We check it for suitability for the workshop and (if necessary) digitally trace it so that we can project and transfer it during the workshop. Your draft drawing can be creative and freely designed, but we recommend that you refrain from using excessively detailed elements. Simpler, larger patterns can be implemented more effectively. Where does the tufting workshop take place?
The workshop usually takes place in a studio in Munich.
What you’ll do in the class
- The workshop starts with a detailed introduction to how to operate our tufting machines
- We then practice with the machines on an exercise frame to introduce you to the technology and give you a feel for the device
- Then you can start implementing your own design. We are here to provide you with expert advice and practical support.
- Tufting is followed by post-processing, including gluing the back and applying anti-slip material or hooks for a tapestry.
- We trim and shave the rug to best show off the colors. The design is then carefully shaved to ensure a clear and impressive presentation.
- At the end of the course, you will hold your handmade rug in your hands.
Who is the class suitable for?
The workshop is aimed at anyone aged 16 and over who would like to learn tufting or develop their skills. No previous experience is required, but participants with previous knowledge are also welcome to deepen their skills. This workshop is ideal for anyone who is interested in the unique craft of tufting and wants to create their own rugs.
