About this class
In the “Mini Print — Screen Printing with Stencil” workshop at IBKK Design & Art Center in Bochum, you will dive into the world of experimental screen printing and develop your own small print edition. Together, we work with simple stencil techniques, paper, cutter and paint and discover how to create individual graphic prints from reduced shapes, lines and surfaces.
The workshop teaches the basics of analog screen printing in a fun and creative way and is suitable for beginners as well as for people with initial creative experience. Step by step, you will develop your own motifs and learn how to print them on paper using stencils. The result is unique prints with an experimental character and handmade aesthetics.
The focus is on creative work and experimentation. Overlapping, different color areas and spontaneous processes create individual results and small series with their own artistic expression. The workshop gives you the opportunity to learn design techniques, gather new creative impulses and implement your own ideas analogously.
Printing takes place in an inspiring studio atmosphere directly at the IBKK Design & Art Center in Bochum. All materials are provided. You don't need any previous knowledge — just a desire to work creatively, experiment and print.
At the end, you'll take home your own mini print edition and exciting insights into the technique of experimental screen printing.

What is included in the class?
The workshop includes all materials for screen printing, including paper, paints, stencil materials and the use of printing tools and workstations on site. You will also receive an introduction to the basics of experimental screen printing, individual creative support during the workshop and your self-designed mini prints and print series to take away.

What you’ll do in the class
At the beginning, you will receive an introduction to the basics of experimental screen printing and working with stencil technology. You will then develop your own graphic motifs, shapes and compositions on paper and prepare them for printing. Together, we experiment with color, overlays and different printing options so that individual mini prints and small series are created step by step. During the entire workshop, you will receive creative support and practical tips on design, printing process and image composition. In the end, you take home your own handprinted work.
