At the children's vacation sewing course in Dresden, your children learn the basics of sewing on a sewing machine in a playful way. From threading to forward and backward sewing to curves and corners — this course covers all the basics for a successful start. They practice together on initial projects such as bags, pillows or hats. In this way, the children not only develop their craft skills, but can also be proud of their first unique piece they have sewn themselves. Our goal is to introduce children to a new hobby with lots of fun and without being overwhelmed.
Tip: Stop by the shop beforehand and talk to us about your skills and projects. We want every child to complete their project and not set themselves up too much. “Stuffed animals” and whole pieces of clothing are often offered as “simple initial projects,” but are not suitable for children and beginners. The very small monsters or animals easily overwhelm children and are often not finished or completely different than imagined and frustrate.
How does this activity work?
- Introduction to basic sewing machine skills (e.g. threading, sewing curves and corners).
- Practice together on a first sewing project such as a bag, pillow or hat.
- Optional: Add applications and closures when the basic project is secure.
- Individual support in implementing the project.
- Conclusion with a finished sewing project to take home.
Who should definitely take part?
- This course is ideal for children from around 8 years of age who are curious about sewing.
- No sewing experience is required — all basics are explained in the course.
- With a maximum of 4 children to ensure individual care.

What to bring?
You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine. This must be dropped off 1 day in advance.
What is included?
- Using the sewing machine and tools.
- Small food (water, juice, snacks).
- Personal attention and tips from the course instructor.
Depending on the type and scope, materials are defined in advance and charged separately.
