Class description
Let us take you on a journey of discovery through the history of cooking! On this journey through the kitchens of the late Middle Ages, you'll learn what people ate and drank during the knights. Taste the extraordinary recipes of the monasteries and princely courts of the time. Cook like in the Middle Ages — discovering the delightful side of history!
We only know medieval cooking recipes from 14th century manuscripts. These were mostly written down at aristocratic courts or in monasteries and bear witness to a different image of medieval cuisine than is commonly available: selected ingredients, sophisticated methods of preparation and unusually spicy dishes are not uncommon. These recipes are rarely everyday meals, but instructions for exquisite dishes that were only available to a few privileged people. They nevertheless offer us an exciting insight into the diversity and sensuality of the late Middle Ages.
