Self-guided city game / scavenger hunt in Würzburg

Explore Würzburg by playing the city game “The Physicist - Light and Shadow” directly with your smartphone. Solve puzzles at famous sights, get involved in the story about physicist Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen and win the game. As soon as you book the game, we will send you all the necessary information by e-mail. 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

• Tickets: You only need 1 ticket per group (1-6 people) and You can hold the event at your desired time. You are not tied to the time specified by the booking.
• You can start whenever you want, even if you have booked a different time or day.
• Each group will play with 1 device. For groups of more than 6 people (maximum 50 people) you can buy 2 or more tickets. 
• This is a private tour just for you! The label “public date” means that of course other groups could theoretically play for themselves at the same time. But you are not playing with strangers.

Visit the starting point at the Röntgen memorial site (in the old town centre), open the link from your confirmation email with your smartphone or tablet, log in with your details and start playing immediately. 

You will first be introduced to the history of Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen in Würzburg: 1895 in Würzburg: Physicist Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen makes a groundbreaking invention in his laboratory! He calls it “X-rays”. With the help of an electron tube and a fluorescent screen, he succeeds in taking a picture of the inside of his wife's hand. Shortly afterwards, his invention becomes a blessing for the sick. And not only that: People find all kinds of bizarre applications. But soon afterwards, something strange happens: Some researchers develop mysterious diseases! Will you be able to solve the mystery of the X-Rays?

Work in a team (1-6 people per group) to solve the case. Are there more than 6 of you? Then we recommend splitting up into several small groups, otherwise experience has shown that not everyone is well integrated into the game. You can also test which group is the fastest! 

Use our city map to puzzle your way from station to station along the history trail. Solve the puzzles at the most beautiful sights in Würzburg and at important points and find out more about the salt production in Würzburg. It is part of the game to guess the individual stations of the city game. They are therefore not listed here. You have to look for clues at the stations to solve the puzzles. In this game, the focus is on the story and the puzzles, not on details about the historical history of the sights and the city.

Move at your own pace and take a break whenever you want. The duration is around 2 to 3 hours. The end is in the old town of Würzburg near the Würzburg Residence.
