Please note that this course takes place on five consecutive Wednesdays and takes from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm.
Ink rollers, glue, scissors and paint: yes these tools can be used to create drawings! This workshop takes a process-based approach to drawing; expanding its definition to anything that can be done on a piece of paper. During hands-on exercises, you will learn how to combine different mediums within one composition.
Techniques such as collage, monoprint, frottage, as well as a mix of wet and dry mediums such as ink, charcoal and pastel, will be introduced through specific guided exercises during each class.
We will discuss movements and artists who focused on collage and mixed media drawing as their primary visual expression, from the early 20th Century up to the contemporary. This approach to image-making includes free association, randomness and chance and a fascination with the subconscious. We will embrace this approach by looking at artists that use these tools for more personal ends, bringing notions of self-expression and subjectivity into the picture.
Anita Kroo is a contemporary mixed media artist, and she will draw from her own studio practice while teaching this workshop. Her direct approach to drawing has been earned through years of experience, but she is ready to share her process with you!

We from Berlin Drawing Room offer workshops taught by professional artists since 2011 with a focus on drawing and painting, based on the belief that everyone can learn how to draw! We believe that the experience of hands-on creation should be accessible to anyone and that drawing is not a skill reserved for art making but is an essential part of communication and perceiving the world. Join us for a hands on workshop online or in our Kreuzberg studio and learn how to draw !
